Best Lowrance Active Target Update Ever! (25.2) See Your Lure Way Easier

In the ever-evolving world of fishing technology, Lowrance continues to improve user experience with its latest updates. I'm Hugh Cosculluela, your Fishfinder Coach, and today I'm hitting the highlights of the Lowrance Active Target 1 and Active Target 2 update version 25.2. If you’re utilizing their systems, this update is a must for your toolkit.

Why Update to 25.2?

The 25.2 software update from Lowrance introduces key features that enhance performance and efficiency. Whether you’re refining your system or simply ensuring you’re using the latest technology, this update will undoubtedly improve your experience on the water.

Note: If you're unsure how to update your Lowrance unit or active target system, resources are available in the top right of our page or in the description below.

Four Key Additions

The update brings four essential modifications to your Active Target system. Let's delve into each one:

  1. New Color Palettes

One of the first noticeable changes with the 25.2 update is the addition of new color palettes. These options will help you manage background noise more effectively and track your lure visibility. Some color palettes provide differing contrasts, which could allow you to increase contrast settings and enhance visibility. This feature is certainly going to be a game-changer for many.

  2. Improved Onscreen Controls

The update changes the dynamic of onscreen controls. Moving past the traditional plus and minus method at the bottom, this feature allows you to change the viewing range in forward mode, down mode, and scout mode. For those on the water, this enhanced control is highly beneficial and practical.

  3. Reverse Range Settings

Another important feature is the reverse range option. Accessible via the menu on the right-hand side of the unit, it comes preset to auto, but you have the option to select varying reverse ranges. The reverse range feature allows you to see behind the transducer with greater accuracy. Depending on your fishing focus, adjusting the reverse range accordingly is suggested. For fishing in front, a reduced reverse range is ideal.

  4. Depth Offset

Last but not least, the depth offset feature is particularly valuable for enhancing lure visibility. This feature shifts the whole image on the screen, letting the water surface align at the top to see your lure splash more clearly. Earlier, this needed adjustments to the angle offset, but now it's made much easier.

Adjusting the depth offset to match or slightly exaggerate the depth below water line by a small margin (about half a foot to eight inches) ensures you can see the lure splash without too many reflections from the water surface. Remember to restore defaults, orient the transducer properly, adjust the depth and angle offsets, and maintain a flat screen for an optimal fishing experience.

Conclusion

These updates from Lowrance notably optimize the Active Target systems, offering greatly improved lure visibility and ease of use. By integrating such changes, fishing becomes not just more efficient but exceedingly more exciting. This update is certainly a standout improvement from Lowrance.
