How to Stream Movies and Sports from Your Phone to a Lowrance HDS Pro & HDS Live Fish Finder

Yes, you read that right — your Lowrance HDS Pro or HDS Live unit can do more than show sonar. If you’ve got a 12-inch or 16-inch model with an HDMI port, you can stream movies, sports, YouTube, or any video from your phone directly onto your fish finder screen. Perfect for downtime on the water or adding a little extra fun to your boat setup.

Here’s how to set it up.

What You’ll Need

  • Lowrance HDS Pro or HDS Live 12” or 16” unit (with HDMI input)

  • HDMI cable (the same kind used for TVs and monitors)

  • USB-C to HDMI dongle (for newer iPhones or most Androids)

  • Lightning to HDMI adapter (for older iPhones)

Step 1: Connect Your Phone with HDMI

  1. Plug the HDMI cable into the port on the back of your Lowrance unit.

  2. Connect the other end to your phone using the correct dongle or adapter.

    • Newer iPhones → USB-C to HDMI

    • Older iPhones → Lightning to HDMI

    • Android → USB-C to HDMI

Step 2: Enable Video Input on Your Unit

  1. On your Lowrance, press Pages to open the menu.

  2. Go to Settings → Advanced → Features.

  3. Make sure Video is turned ON.

  4. Return to the home screen, and you’ll now see Video as an option.

Step 3: Select HDMI as the Source

  • Tap Video from the home screen.

  • Set the video source to HDMI.

  • Your phone’s screen should now be mirrored directly onto your unit.

Step 4: Enjoy Combo Screens

One cool feature is the ability to run combo screens. That means you can keep sonar or navigation running on part of the display while streaming a football game, movie, or YouTube video in another window.

Why This is Useful

While it might sound like just a fun trick, streaming to your unit has some practical uses too:

  • Watch training videos or fishing tutorials on the water.

  • Share live tournament streams while fishing.

  • Entertain friends or family during long idle times.
