How to Sync Lowrance Waypoints To and From Your Phone: Plan Your Ideal Fishing Trip
When you’re out on the water, nothing’s more important than knowing where you’ve been and where you’re headed. With the Lowrance app, you can easily synchronize your waypoints, routes, and tracks between your phone and your Lowrance unit. This makes it simple to analyze past trips, plan new ones, and ensure all your fishing data is always in the right place.
In this quick guide, I’ll show you exactly how to set up synchronization so you can confidently plan your ideal fishing trip.
Why Sync Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks?
Whether you’re scouting new water or returning to proven hotspots, keeping your waypoints synced is critical. Syncing allows you to:
-
Analyze past trips — review where fish were caught and how you navigated the lake.
-
Plan your next trip — mark future waypoints at home and have them ready on your unit.
-
Stay organized — no more juggling different versions of waypoints between devices.
Step 1: Connect the Lowrance App
First, make sure your phone is paired with your Lowrance unit. If you’ve never set up the Lowrance app before, check out my tutorial (linked here). Once connected, open the app on your phone.
Step 2: Create Test Waypoints
To confirm syncing is working, create a test waypoint on your phone (e.g., named “Phone”) and another on your Lowrance unit (e.g., named “Unit”). This makes it easy to see when synchronization has completed.
Step 3: Sync Your Devices
-
On the Lowrance app, connect to your unit.
-
Tap the sync button (chain link icon).
-
Your unit will display a message: “Synchronizing waypoints, routes, and tracks with iPhone.”
-
After a short moment, your waypoints will update on both devices.
You should now see the “Phone” waypoint on your unit and the “Unit” waypoint on your phone. That’s confirmation that syncing is working.
Step 4: Put It to Use on the Water
With syncing enabled, you can:
-
Log waypoints in real time while fishing, then analyze them later at home.
-
Pre-plan trips by dropping waypoints in the app before you launch the boat.
-
Keep every device consistent so there’s no confusion between trips.
